This is what I'm talking about..

Microsoft is killin’ it with this + Windows 7 — bout’ time.

I remember reading Bill Gates’ book about the “future” and it’s kind of funny looking back to all of his ideas as to where we’d be by now in technology, he was pretty dead wrong in a lot of things — but this is one of his ideas that is finally being brought to life. If it’s as smooth as it is in this mockup video, Apple will have it’s hands full trying to compete with their table, if it ever even gets released!

What have you been doing?

My work ethic is pathetic, I’m stuck. I’m lacking motivation. I’m reading all the time, mostly worthless stuff, rarely, but sometimes enlightening. Politics is frustrating, I try to delude myself into believing that politicians are truly representative of my or my neighbors interests and occasionally, they are.

I waited in line for 6 hours to vote for Barack Obama. I deluded myself into believing a Democratic administration would do at least a few things that I vehemently support, (and I know he has only been in office for 9 months) like ending wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, prosecuting members of the government that permitted and engaged in illegal torture (something we repeatedly call on Iran to do, while Obama and others ask that we just look forward when it comes to torture by the American government, ah, American exceptionalism), trimming the “defense” budget, giving American citizens a public option for health care and scaling down our questionably inappropriate support of Israel.

I guess I saw the writing on the wall when Obama began announces his administration, cabinet, secretaries, etc. They were all the standard Washington fare, nothing new, no change, no hope.

I am a cynic, no doubt and I hope that time will prove me wrong. But I am afraid our country is not moving in the right direction towards establishing any kind of peace and comfort domestically, let alone the rest of the world.

I agree with Glenn Beck (WOW!) — out of McCain and Obama, Barack was definitely the better choice.

I just want some good news — an opportunity that allows me to say, “now THAT is why I voted for him!”

North Campus construction nearing completion!!!!!!!!!!

It’s pissed you off at least once, if not several times since June 2008. It’s forced small local businesses to close their doors and challenged the community economy, but it looks as if the storm of orange barrels and single lane traffic is finally coming to a close.

Walker from ColumbusUnderground.com gives us the good news on 9/15:

An email update from PavingTheWay.org reveals that the North Campus High Street Construction project is in the final stages of completion. The final paving and road markings began today and should be finished in roughly two weeks (weather permitting). The paving will take place daily between 7 am and 7pm, so expect delays during those hours.

It felt like a nightmare and I know everyone in the community will be glad to see the finished product. However, the actual “finished product” date still hasn’t been determined.

People in the comments section in the posting make a hilarious, but most likely a sad and accurate prediction of what will become of the old Sunoco lot across the street from CVS.

More local shops? More parking for Ravari/Hounddogs/Sage?

Hahahaha.. no, silly. The only sensible alternative would be to build a Walgreens!

Ah, I was super stoked to see Kelli Martin’s Black Market store front featured on Project Runway, but even that has closed it’s doors. She’s still selling on her own website now, Anti-Label.com.

Hopefully as the construction comes to a close, these remaining local businesses will see an up-tick in sales and survive this dismal economy.
